Emerald Grove began a five years ago with just one wreath design. Inspired by natural materials, rather than their synthetic counterparts, I started designing with anything I could get my hands on - flowers, branches, seed pods, grass, moss.  And out of necessity I began seeking out materials close at hand.

The more I explored what local farms were producing it became obvious there was no better quality, however,

The true value has been in the connections made and relationships built.

Although I didn't always see the value in it, I have been learning about plants in some form or another for most of my life.  Plant (and weed) identification was something I learned at a very young age, along with a deep appreciation for the beauty and satisfaction brought by cultivating plants. 

 

From local nurseries where I learned valuable propagation & planting methods (and perhaps more importantly the grit to withstand the elements), to Forestry work in the coastal mountains of British Columbia, the many twists and turns in my path have always involved horticulture in some form.

All of these threads have woven together finally and Emerald Grove, as I am now coming to realize, has been a long time in the making. If you love something, you'll keep coming back to it.
